this morning

Sorry no new photos or videos this post.. We were house sitting and I forgot the camera.. But a funny story this morning.
I checked on Lilja this morning to see if she was awake ( so she can go potty right away) and she said
"Momma, can I have monkey pancakes (wheat pancakes with bananas) sinasapple sap (orange juice) grapes and milk, just like at JT's house? "
she must have been up for a while.. :)

Lilja's first REAL haircut

so i read this book about curly hair at my hairdressers.. and realized our previous haircutter did it all wrong. So Tim took on the task of shaping Lilja's curls.. he called it "releasing the curls" and wow what a result!.. He cut the bottom straight across on her shoulders and then layered her hair all around.. Not too short, as those little pigtails look oh so cute.. You can really see the difference, all little pip curls are now around her head. So, so, so cute!!

she was not in the mood to really take a picture this morning, ( Dora was calling) but I think you get the idea..

we are letting her bangs grow out a little. I can't believe I talk about a 2 years old hair like she is an 6 year old.. but that the amount of hair she has. the hairdresser was impressed with how many curls she had.

p.s I promise she had gloves on, but this child LOVES the snow and does not seem cold.. we played all morning outside, when we came in she was pretty soaked, but it did not seem to mind her..

a wonderful sunday

It snowed just a little last night and right now the sun is out.. just beautiful.. A perfect morning to bring Ted our neighbor his newspaper... we ended up playing in the back where the sun was so nice and warm. We played with the doggies and walked around the yard.. Lilja even walked down our road all the way down and Aran picked us up at the bottom with the sled.. Love this phot.. can you see Jack in the glasses??

Lilja got her first nightgown from grandma and grandpa.. I do not know why that makes her look so big. It is definitely her favorite!!

shaving cream

What does a former preschool teacher mommy do on a gloomy snowy day.. we put shaving cream on the table and go to town!!




ok plus a funny thing that just happened.. we are playing on the ground and Lilja is copying my motions, Hitting her knees, kicking her feet. then suddenly Lilja is the leader and she says... yes, she really said this.. "Lay down Ma..." Ma!?.. what am I? 100 years old!! we had a big laugh about that one..well, maybe a little one.. Can't wait until she says.. Come sit down here... Pa!!!

snow bubbles??

Lilja and Aran were making snow bubbles in the bathtub the night before our big storm.. must have brought in the snow storm monsters!!

no more diapers!!

As of last night.. no more diapers.. even at night. This girl was so fast in potty training, i was even surprised.. Great job girlie, girl!! we are so proud of you.. You are looking so much bigger now with that little tiny bum!!

down the hill

Lilja and Aran went sledding down our cul-de-sac hill. It was the best snow. It had been snowing all day, they had just plowed so the snow was a little snow packed and there is no body driving on our road as we are all outside.. Perfect for the best sledding.. after more snow came in, we had to go inside and Lilja really did not want to go in.. she wanted to keep going!!

a fun snow day!!

Finally we got some snow and it kept on coming.. First Lilja watched daddy snowplow, then helped him shovel the rest outside. When it stopped snowing they went sledding.. Yes, they.. I will watch, video and cheer on.. but sledding down a hill, not my favorite.. Luckily

Lilja's new reading corner

Many of you know I LOVE to change my house.. Well, I love how my house looks now so the room to change is Lilja's!!! Just kidding..

Because we do not need that changing table anymore, we, or actually I have changed her changing room into a quiet reading corner.. ( Aran just shakes his head) on the otherside of the room is the changing table now added to the closet, so Lilja still has her drawers to chose her clothes!!..

Lilja is kind of changing her nap to no nap once in a while, so now she will have a quiet space to read books and do puzzles during that time.. It is funny, I look at this room and it reminds me of my classroom in La Jolla.. I guess you can not take the teacher out of a woman.. :)

Lilja was playing in her house today and it really became apparent what fun imaginary play she does now.. fyi the second video I got her a couple of pink spoons, but she walks around with a blue one all the time and I could not find him.. thus video #3...this new talk is kind of funny too.. she is just a silly peanut!!

We were staying at JT's house and he had little skies from last year, so we put Lilja on them to see if she is ready this year for skies.. well, she is definitely ready, as ready as a two year is..

potty training update

For the last two weeks, while I was off work, we have speeded up the potty training, and guess what...? . Well, she is now.... , dare I say it?? potty trained..I do believe I could not have done this while I was working.. It was pretty stressfull..trying to keep it fun, while worrying about how long she could go without peeing in her panties...We did many "potty dances" and a couple of sighs when she pooped in her pants and a big jump when she tried to pee in her basket with books (don't ask!).. But I feel I can start to relax a little bit.I am getting to realize her little badder is stronger than i think... We do still put a diaper on at night, but for the last week she has been dry in the morning so I think we are ready to put her panties on at night too.. However, she is waking up around 3 am to go potty, but then goes right back to sleep. I guess that little bladder needs to get used to holding it a little longer.. We started out with a little potty and a huge sticker board that after three weeks is full of animal stickers.. But we have been house sitting for the last week and they have a normal size toilet and no board.. so guess what.. got rid of those when we got home and she has not missed them.. No need to regress.. I am so proud of her, she really did it pretty fast and she is still soooo little. That little bum of hers is so tiny that i have to go down a size in her pants.. she is a true toddler now.... with a tiny little bum ;)
